Rainy Days = Kinect

We were due some rain, several days of non-stop rain. I just knew that if “thing 1″ and “thing 2″ were cooped up inside for that long we would need some new distraction to keep them busy without breaking down the house. I figured I would spring for the Kinect sensor for my XBOX 360 and treat them to some active fun indoors.

Well just at that moment the BIG TV decided that it was time for the DLP lamp to say farewell and we were reduced to the hardship of a 24 inch LCD monitor… The suffering was almost unbearable…

Cezanne did get into this a bit, and Etienne even copied his sister - not sure I can say he actually understood what was going on or what he needed to do, but it was fun to watch them give it a try. It has NOT taken hold - they still much rather play outside - even if it is raining…

Just too cool…

Etienne just looks super cool today so I took a few photos of the boy.

I just love the first of these and have it blown up to an 8×10 in my office. This is just so totally Etienne, one minute a beautiful little angle and then next a master of mischief and naughtiness…

Rainy Days Suck !

We may have had an early spring but we also just got hit with two weeks of wet cold rainy windy weather which has forced the kids indoors and that is driving us MAD !

We went so MAD that we bought face paint and craft projects to try to keep the kids entertained while they could not play outside.

Lanelle did an excellent job with the face paint - she simply copied a design off the packaging of the face paint !

As you can see the two nut jobs are a little nuttier than usual !

St. Patrick’s Day @ JGE

Etienne is not officially a student at John Green Elementary and is not a member of the K-3 class but with a sister like Cezanne and since he is there almost every morning and afternoon to drop her off or fetch her again from school and his presence in the class during Cezanne’s sharing while she was best bear, the class have sort of adopted him as one of their baby brothers.

It was St. Patrick’s Day and I was asked to take photos of the kids with their leprechaun traps for the year book and class scrapbook. Lanelle needed to be there are Home Room Mom so Etienne had to tag along and when all the kids were done with their photos he asked if he could pose for a photo too.

This boy is SO ready for school !!

The funny thing is at first glance he does NOT look out of place amongst the other kids ;-)

My buddy, Liam

Etienne made friends with Liam at Gymborie and as it turns out his mother is South African. So Lanelle and Liam’s mom, Minette have been getting along and turns out Liam has a big sister just like Etienne and they are the same age. After a couple of play dates we had them over for dinner and lots and lots of play which lead to bath time and very very sad farewell - nobody wanted to leave and on our end there were tears at the fact that friends had to go home… I guess this is a sign that they really had fun and enjoyed themselves…

I was keeping an eye on Etienne while working from home and gave him some popcorn to keep him busy as a snack. After a while it was very quiet so I went to investigate and found that Etienne had really been enjoying the popcorn…

Valentine’s Day

dsc_3086.JPG Valentine’s Day is a big deal it turns out and the kids just love getting their little love notes from us along with a small basket of treat and surprises. Etienne caught on pretty quickly that this was a special day, although he may not know what Valentine’s Day is, he sure wished everybody we met a Happy Valentine’s Day :-)

Welcome 2012 !

We went to the beach on 01/01/2012 but my auto focus broke, boo hoo :-(

So here are photos from a week later and another beach. We had lunch at the Tides in Bodega Bay and then found a wonderful beach and the kids had a ball…
